What is the best way to burn my candle?

First things first, remove the dust cover if your candle comes with one!  Make sure you trim the wick to ¼  inch. 

On your very first burn, make sure liquified wax reaches all the way to the edge of the vessel.  This will be around 3-4 hours.  

Keep in mind, wax has “memory” and will only burn to where it stopped on your first light.  If burned for too little time initially the candle could tunnel down, causing a lot of wax to be wasted, and potentially drowning the wick!  

Subsequently, trim your wick to ¼ inch on EVERY burn.  Extinguish your candle no later than 4 hours after you lit it; and discontinue use when there is only ½ of an inch left in your vessel.

Do you use Paraffin wax?

No. We use a proprietary blend of soy wax and ethically sourced botanical waxes.  Our wax is eco-friendly and sustainable. 

Are your candles vegan?

Yes. We do not use ANY animal byproducts (including beeswax).  Our candles are also cruelty free, because we love cute little bunnies.

What size candles do you offer?

Currently all of our candles come in 8oz tins with 6.5 oz of wax.  This produces a typical burn time of 25-30 hours.

How do I burn my candle safely?

  • Always burn on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface
  • Always trim wick to ¼ inch before each burn
  • Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Always burn candles in a well ventilated area, but away from drafts and vents.
  • Never leave a lit candle unattended. Always keep it in sight.
  • Never light or burn a candle near anything combustible or that could catch on fire.
  • Keep burning candle out of reach of children and pets
  • Keep lit candles away from drafts and vibrations.
  • It is best to extinguish with a “snuffer” to prevent any splatter

What is the Harper Douglas Trading Co Wellness app?

We built the Harper Douglas Trading Co Web App to be a guide on your journey to lower stress.  It consists of a few exercises that take anywhere from 3 - 10 minutes each, as well as a relaxing playlist meant to soothe your mind, body and soul.

How do I access the web app?

Simply scan the QR code on any Find Your Steady collection candle with your phone and click the link.  No sign up or log in needed and nothing to download. It is completely free to use.  As long as you have one of our candles, you can access and use the web app.

Do I need a subscription to use the web app? 

No. Simply scan the QR code and you are in!  We are able to keep our mission alive through you purchasing our products.  We greatly appreciate your continued support.

What is the best way to use the web app?

The best way to use the web app is whatever way helps you best destress and whatever way you think you’ll consistently use it. Consistency is the key to building new routines and habits that help us better deal with the stresses of life.

What if I’m too busy to use the web app each day?

Use it as often as you’re able. Keep in mind though that it can be done in 10-15 minutes each day. What are 1-2 things that you currently do each day that may actually be contributing to your daily stress? See if you can substitute using the web app in its place. You got this!

Does the web app change daily?

Yes. Each day there will be a new “Take 5-10 minutes…” prompt. This keeps things interesting and allows you to try out different tools each day to reduce stress and feel your best.

Where do you ship?

We currently ship to every state in the United States and Puerto Rico. For Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico, please allow additional time for the shipment to arrive.

How soon will my order ship?

Most orders will be processed 2-3 days after placing the order.  Orders will take anywhere from 2-10 business days to arrive once they’ve shipped.

What if I need to change my shipping address?

If you need to change your shipping address after placing your order, please email us at info@harperdouglas.com. We can’t guarantee we’ll be able to adjust the shipping address, but will do everything we can.

Returns and Exchanges

Can I return or exchange my purchase?

We can offer refunds or exchanges on candles in original condition in unopened packaging. We are not able to offer returns or exchanges on candles that have been lit.
